Born in Athens, Greece, 1994
The character of my work is defined primarily by the fundamental properties of the materials used and their technical processes. Charcoal's natural origin as an organic element is called to create organic motifs. The application of charcoal naturally draws me into direct body contact with my work which gradually led me to larger formats as I sought more space for my gestural techniques.
As my research progressed, narrative elements started to appear frequently in my works. In an attempt to combine these aspects with the material techniques I have developed, I realized that the natural element played a crucial role in each composition, thus the abstract organic motifs transformed into recognizable physical entities, such as vegetation or bodies that later evolved into archaic compositions.
As part of this effort arose the need to visualize certain conceptual relationships. Their physiognomy seems purely existential, with themes stemming from fundamental considerations, such as death, the passage of time, or love. Archetypal themes that humanity has always had to cope with by giving rise to myths and stories.
The result consists of works-landscapes oriented toward a fictional dimension, where they could be perceived as interconnected worlds and narrate a commonplace between the material and the unconscious.
